Back in Epsom

I've just got back from a fantastic couple of weeks away - Exeter to see my bestest friend in the whole world Sarah, followed by N Wales to see parents, Nain, and my Aunt Pat and Uncle Terry, followed by a week in Mallorca with nuclear family - and now I've ended up back in Epsom where everything is just as shit as it was before I went away!! The only differences are that Colin has replaced his speakers with wall mounted ones, the washing basket now only contains my clothes as he's washed his, and there's no bread, milk or fruit in the house - what the hell is he eating for breakfast these days?? Dry muesli??

Trying to keep up the holiday happiness though - we were all very upbeat the entire time despite the fact that it rained for three out of the six days - and I have the images of my parents dancing the twist at our community barbecue to keep me smiling! As so often happens I had a sort of epiphany while I was out there looking back on my life as it's been the last year and I definitely think I need to make some changes.

The big changes I'm putting to the back of my mind and not looking it for as long as I can as they're very scary and upsetting, but the little ones are part of the reason I'm writing this, so here they are:

No. 1 - Be a better friend!! It's very easy when you have a significant other to relegate all friends to insignificant status, to spend every evening slobbed in front of the tv, and to never go away visiting. Time to change that.

No. 2 - Get out more! And I don't just mean get out clubbing, though that mightn't be a bad idea, but to join things and get fit and basically doing anything except slobbing in front of the tv.

No. 3 - Get a job!! Although not technically dole-scum I'm still unemployed in Epsom which is terribly depressing and I'm surprised I have any self-respect left!

Well, that's as far as I've got at the moment, and I must really go and buy some bread and milk, and write a new CV, and search for job opportunities, so I'll sign off now.

Sounds like you had a pretty fantastic time there, so I'll forgive you this time!

I'm doing all right with my goals, but I think no. 1's going to cost me a fortune in phone bills! Luckily I still get five free texts a day - and Colin pays the broadband bill!
